Fortunately, this one was rejected as it was outside the remit or powers of the Prime Minister and Government. Update 1: If you are interested in seen analysis of the traffic from Hitwise to above petition, please visit here. Tags:…

Yuuguu launches new Beta and new website in addition to coverage on Vecosys

Remember these two guys? They are going from strength to strength. They reported a triple whammy recently, i.e. new website, new release and coverage on vecosys by Sam Sethi. I have been a user of Yuuguu from almost the beginning. Sam does a good coverage of the product, so I will not repeat it. About the new website: Great strap line: See together: Be together. It would be interesting to hear how this came about. It makes perfect sense – makes the proposition very clear – catchy. Anish/Phil make sure you protect it. Website is structured better – blog is…

According to computing magazine, Accenture has beaten BT Global Services, IBM and LogicaCMG to win the lucrative contract to run the back-office systems of the The London Organising Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Locog). North West Software Communities

I had the pleasure to meet recently a number of individuals who run various software communities in the North West of England. The gathering was organised under the auspicious of Manchester Digital Development Agency. To my amazement, the North West has number of mature software communities who meets on regular basis. The communities represented included: Manchester Digital – was represented by council members Mike Ryan (of Idaho Technology Consultants) and Shaun Fensom (of Poptel). Manchester Digital actively promotes Manchester’s digital business sector, especially to attract business and inward investment from the UK and wider world. It also runs the "big…

My first Geekup Event in Manchester

I just got home from attending my first Geekup event in Manchester. GeekUp is a growing community of web designers, web developers, and other web-minded folk from the North West who meet up in Manchester to discuss the latest industry news, share ideas and spread a little knowledge. Familiar figures who attended included Anish Kapoor, CEO of Yuuguu in addition to Andrew Disley and Daniel Morris who organise the Geekup events. It was attended by about 20 technology enthusiasts and covered two topics: Widgets on Apple Mac by Stuart Frisby of 36 Degrees and Wdgty. I have recently been playing…

Partnering – a key difference between ebdex and its competitors

What came out clearly from my discussions with heads of our competitors is that ebdex is clearly very ambitious when it comes to partnering. ebdex’s strategy is to excel in three areas, these being: Understand the market better than anyone else Deliver a service better than anyone else In this process, manage an extensive partner network from product development, sales to operations with later addition of customer service The only significant movement I have seen within our competition is the development of hub alliance by Causeway Technologies, Burns e-Commerce and Asite. Well done guys. I know that hub alliance continues…

What has Manoj Ranaweera been up to this week?

I had the fortune to speak and/or meet number of ebdex’s competitors this week. These include Simon Fox (CEO of TBiConnect), Rhys Jones (CEO of Accountis), Philip Brown (CEO of Causeway) and Mike Gibbard (Chief Solutions Architect of Burns e-Commerce Solutions). I wish I can share what we discussed openly. But alas, I had to honour the confidentiality of each of the conversations I had. What is interesting to note is that: We all operate in the same industry Yet we have spent different budgets in developing our solutions – trust me, the difference from the lowest to the highest…

Bottomline Technologies adopts Oracle Fusion Middleware

One idea I recently entertained was to examine the possibility of adopting Oracle Fusion Middleware within ebdex Document Exchange for integration with Oracle, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards, as well as using it for such functionality as business rule engine, mobility, etc. It seems I was not the only one having these thoughts. Recently, Bottomline Technologies announced adopting Oracle Fusion Middleware to enhance the integration with Oracle’s JD Edwards and Oracle E-Business Suite. And they are going after Oracle users (as was the intention of ebdex). Extracts from the announcement: “Oracle Fusion Middleware integration is a key initiative for Bottomline across…
