Taking stock..

I have now been blogging for well over a year, and perhaps its time to take stock and review areas I ought to focus on. So what does interest me? Two areas come to mind:

  1. Documents
  2. Startups

Documents

Very wide area. I am interested in both structured and unstructured information in the form of documents. Two technologies interest me, one being structured document exchange between organisations and the other being exchange of unstructured documents among two or more parties.

  1. Structured documents exchange between organisation – solutions in this category falls into e-invoicing, document exchange hubs, Electronic Invoicing Presentment and Payment (EIPP), Accounts Payable (A/P) integration, Accounts Receivable (A/R) integration, Supply Chain Finance (SCF) and all other solutions offered as a result.
  2. Unstructured documents exchanged among number of entities – in a nutshell, document publishing, archiving and search. Collaborative environments where once configured "my dashboard" finds the type of documents I am interested in whilst giving feedback on documents I have published. More to come on this later…

StartUps

I am very much interested in entrepreneurship, especially in the areas of software startups (more interested in enterprise 2.0 than web 2.0), funding, go-to-market strategies and channel development. Regular readers must be fed up of hearing about OpenCoffee events and NW StartUp 2.0 events I run in Manchester.

Summary

If that’s what I am interested in, then the blog should reflect such and should achieve a balance between the two areas. With this in mind, I changed the blog title to "Manoj’s EIPP and StartUp blog" with strap line "On EIPP, Software StartUps and anything else of interest". Unfortunately, this does not reflect my interest in unstructured documents. As I have not much spoken about unstructured documents, I felt it would be too much of a change at this point of time. Maybe its also time to change the theme!

I sincerely hope I am not going through a blogging mid-life crisis!
