Technorati Rankings – in the top 100,000 for the first time

Here are the latest ranking details from Technorati. For the first time, this blog is in the top 100,000. I was monitoring the ranking regularly and whilst number of links and blogs have not really changed much, I believe the ranking improved due to increasing traffic. The only other explanation I can think of is that some of the blogs with higher rankings did badly and they were penalised by Technorati.  I started blogging in Apr 06, but moved to wordpress.com in July 06. At that point ranking zeroed. Not bad for six months work! It is time consuming, but…

Yesterday’s webcast by Andrew Bartels and 170 Systems

I attended the webinar organised by 170 systems over webex yesterday. The speakers were Andrew Bartels, VP and Research Analyst from Forrester and Larry Concannon, Director of Product Marketing from 170 Systems. I was disappointed with the webinar as both speakers rushed to complete without interacting with the audience. However, webex allowed audience to send queries which 170 Systems promised to respond within days. The slide pack can be down loaded from 170 Systems website, which I recommend as it has some good information. 170 Systems provide EIPP solutions (invoice only) through OB10 network. As expected, their expertise lies in…

Exploring ebdex Consultancy further

Having commented on the ideal number of partners to start a business, taking one of my previous ideas further, ebdex Consulting would need three to four people to start with. Today, I believe I found the second partner (of course, the first partner being me!). I also found another Associate, who could easily be the third partner. Need to chat with him to ascertain this. But how do they measure against the skill sets I mentioned? And what skills am I bringing and what would be my role? All this needs further discussion and elaboration. If we go ahead with…

Ideal number of partners to start a business

Have you started a business before or are you thinking of starting a business? Have you wondered what the ideal number of partners/directors you should have when starting a business? My take is that no business should be started without less than 3 partners. Beyond 4 partners it becomes difficult to manage, initially. Obviously, the skills that each partner brings is vitally important and should be complementary. But why three? In my opinion, you need at least two people to run a business. So if one partner falls seriously ill or decide to leave, you still have two to manage…

Electronic Invoicing & Settlement business of Accenture

So if EIPP is not worth mentioning why is Accenture playing with EIPP? Sorry, they call it Electronic Invoicing and Settlement (EI&S). Nothing wrong with that except that its another definition, actually this time to mean a business unit/group/division, rather than a solution/product. Perhaps EI&S is a better term than EIPP. PP stands for "presentment and payment", which is same as "settlement", more or less. I believe Accenture has capability to deliver EIPP solutions using existing products and solutions, such as the network provided by Xign. Yet, I have not found any references, other than their involvement with Exostar, which…

e-invoicing revenues predictions from Aberdeen Group

(click here for full image) Above is extracted from a third party publication (i.e. not directly from the original report). I actually expects revenues to be much higher. However, as the market is fragmented, it is difficult to conclude the basis for above projections, e.g. does above include e-mailing invoices and not just end-to-end transactions with tight integration with accounting and ERP systems? Has anyone read the original report? If so, please enlighten us! Tags: Aberdeen Group, e-invoicing, EIPP

Burns e-Commerce, Accountis, OB10 and Causeway get new facelifts in 2006

I used to really dislike the website of Burns e-Commerce. Probably they hated it as well. Look at the new facelift given (launched in Dec 06). Not just that, there is a new logo as well. But I am disappointed with the followings: Details on the management has been removed. I know they went through some turmoil in the past, and now the board is limited to two directors. But this should not be a reason to not display who is running the company. I like the presentation, but cramming too many sketches into a limited space clutter the site.…

Introducing Burns e-Commerce

Another pioneer in the EIPP space is Burns e-Commerce from the North West of England, in fact not too far from where I live. Founded in 1989, now in 3rd incarnation, the beX (Burns Business Exchange) handles documents worth well over Euro23bn pa for global brands such as Philips, Eli Lilly, Office Depot, Intel and Citibank. Above shows the document flow within beX. Their offering seems to be limited to 3 document types (purchase order, invoice and remittance), which keeps the solution simple, but also put a significant limitation. Modern systems should at least handle 9 document types (request for…
